Altkom Akademia has launched a series of free IT training courses for people with disabilities. The courses are a part of the “Przez trening do samodzielności” (Independence via training) project deployed by the PRO NOBIS Social Integration Association. The project is deployed within the framework of the Operational Program – Human Assets 2007-2012, co-financed by the European Social Fund.
Altkom Akademia’s Business Intelligence and Office Intelligence team members deliver IT training courses on ECDL – the European Computer Driving License. The project entails 184 hours of classes and shall last for 23 weeks.
The training course is composed of 7 modules on: basics of information techniques, using computers, processing texts, spreadsheets, databases, graphics used by managers and for presentations, as well as IT network services. Each module shall end up with an ECDL-certified exam. The training course is delivered at Altkom Akademia's training center in Warsaw.
"The training course participants work in three groups of 10 people each. Small groups allow us to get in direct contact with each trainee and improve the efficiency of learning. The courses are delivered twice a week in training rooms with a complete infrastructure for people with disabilities. The rooms are also fitted with cutting-edge computer hardware" - explains Katarzyna Chojnowska, Education Director, Altkom Akademia.
- “It is yet another project of that type, delivered by Altkom Akademia. In 2008 we completed, among others, a series of training courses for people with hearing dysfunctions, as well as the “Aktywni i samodzielni” (Active and independent) project, co-financed by the European Social Fund. Within the framework of this project we delivered training courses on using the computer and Internet for 97 people with disabilities" - adds Katarzyna Chojnowska.
At the same time, apart from the IT training course, the PRO NOBIS Association delivers a series of workshops designed to help people with disabilities to develop their skills and attain professional stability. Within the framework of the project PRO NOBIS plans to deliver coaching sessions on developing personal psychological skills, workshops on social activation and communication, as well as techniques used at offices. |
